Caring For Your Sterling Silver Bracelets
- We recommend your store your sterling silver bracelets in individual plastic bags to prevent tarnish. Tarnish naturally occurs when silver jewelry is exposed to air over periods of times.
- A quick polish with a clean cloth or a Sunshine Silver Polishing Cloth after wearing will remove oils, then place in a zippable plastic bag. You can also wrap the bracelet in a small piece of tissue paper first which will further protect your valuable silver bracelet.
-
- If your bracelet has become heavily tarnished you can lightly soak it in warm water and gently scrub with a very mild detergent and a soft cloth. But be careful if your bracelet has pearls or opals as they are soft gemstones and can be damaged.
A great investment is a jewelry box with a tarnish-free lining. It helps protect all of your silver jewelry (but we still recommend the plastic bag storage as well). There are also anti-tarnish strips that you can insert into your jewelry bags or your jewelry box. And, if you live in a moist climate, place silica gel packs into the bags to absorb the moisture in the air. -
- Wearing your silver jewelry helps to keep it tarnish free but a nightly gentle swipe with a soft cleaning cloth goes a long way to ensure a bright, sparkling finish for the next wearing.
